In
order to obtain effective Fire Prevention it is necessary to consider the actual
penetrations through fire compartment walls and floors. Synthetic pipes should
be especially considered as they are a transporter of fire and smoke from one
compartment to another. |

PVC
and PE starts to soften at about 115°C, consequently in a short period of
time an opening will develop in a fire compartment wall or floor allowing flames
and smoke to breach it.
The Firestem Intumescent Collar counteracts this and at around 140°C
the Firestem Flex starts to react under the influence of heat, expanding
to seal off the pipe thereby stopping the spread of smoke and fire. |
